Charles S. Hewins was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. He graduated from North High School in 1995. From there, he went to Indiana University, graduating with a degree in Political Science and minors in Business and Classical Studies. He earned his legal degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2002, and went on to practice law with one of Mississippi’s oldest and most respected law firms, Campbell DeLong, LLP, for six years. In 2008, Charles returned home to Evansville, and continued his practice working for the prestigious insurance defense firm, Kightlinger & Gray, LLP. Following his tenure there, and after a brief time working for one of Evansville’s preeminent sole practitioners, Lane Siesky, Charles fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening Hewins Law Firm in 2012 and in 2022 joined ranks with Bradley J. Charles is a third generation lawyer, following in the footsteps of his father, Daniel F. Hewins, and grandfather, Elvin H. Hewins, both of whom spent their entire careers serving the legal needs of Southern Indiana residents and businesses. In opening Hewins Law Firm and Salmon & Hewins, LLC, Charles is continuing the family tradition of providing excellent legal services to those in need. Charles is a staunch defender of the integrity of the legal profession. He has already served on the Boards of Directors of both the Evansville Bar Association and the Evansville Bar Foundation. He is also a legal philanthropist, providing assistance, free of charge, to Southern Indiana residents through the Volunteer Lawyer Program of Southwestern Indiana. He also played a role in the development of the Access to Justice Committee, which is part of the Evansville Bar Association.
