Seems to be the norm these days, but July has gotten off to a rocky start with a rise in Covid-19 cases locally and nationally. The Evansville City Council is considering mandatory use of masks in public places, and the West Side Nut Club had no choice but to cancel this year’s Fall Festival. Good things are still happening, including this announcement of the Salmon & Hewins July 2020 Charity Contribution: Voices, Inc.
In a previous blog post, we offered a recommendation on how you might be able to help local non-profits that are sure to lose out on a huge source of revenue due to the Fall Festival cancellation. Be sure to check it out. Salmon & Hewins is doing its part with its monthly charitable contribution program. Each month, our Facebook followers will be given an opportunity to comment and suggest a local charitable organization that’s doing good things for our communities. You can see our July call to action by clicking this link. From the suggestions, we’ll randomly select one organization each month and donate $100.00, plus post a profile video of who the charity is and what they do. We previously donated $50.00, but for the month of July through the rest of the year, we’re increasing the donation to $100.00!
Our July charity contribution goes to Voices, Inc.! In the video above, I interview Michelle Motta, Voices’ Executive Director and Ombudsman. She talks about the amazing things her organization does to help local nursing home residents, and even identifies a couple great programs they’re working on now to help nursing home residents who are isolated due to Covid-19 concerns. Also, if you have family members currently living in assisted living facilities or nursing homes, be sure to like and follow Voices’ Facebook page, and encourage your loved-ones to do so.
