Everyone seems to be adjusting to what appears to be the “new normal,” at least for the next few months. Covid-19 positive tests and deaths continue to go up, but we’re all doing our best to adjust to the circumstances and limitations (you can head to Governor Eric Holcomb’s Back on Track Indiana website to learn the latest on what’s going on in Indiana). Here at the office, things are slowly going back to normal, which is why it’s taken so long to announce the Salmon & Hewins Charity Contribution for August 2020: The Evansville YWCA!
In a previous blog post, we suggested what you might be able to do to help local non-profits impacted by this year’s cancellation of the Fall Festival. We at Salmon & Hewins have been doing what we can to help. Each month, we donate $100 to a local charitable organization randomly chosen from comments made by our Facebook followers. Our August 2020 call to action generated more than 200 comments nominating a lot of great organizations. That was awesome!
Salmon & Hewins August 2020 charitable contribution goes to the Evansville YWCA. Before you do anything else, head over to their website to learn all about the great things they do in our community! You’ll be genuinely impressed. YWCA Evansville’s Facebook page is constantly updated with great historical information and updates about what’s going on. In the video embedded above, YMCA Evansville’ CEO Erika Taylor gives a great interview explaining their mission, ways they help the community every day, and how they’ve adapted their outreach and fundraising in light of the current pandemic. Please be sure to watch it now!
Once you’ve learned all there is to know about YWCA, please check out Salmon & Hewins Facebook page, which is where we’ll announce the September 2020 Charity Contribution call to action. While you’re there, please like and follow the page, find the “community” tab and invite your friends to like Salmon & Hewins. We’re doing this every month at least through the end of the year. Our August 2020 Charity Contribution was a great success, but for September we’re hoping to break through to 250 comments, so please be on the lookout!
